Marshes called Izunuma/Uchinuma are located in the north of Miyagi Prefecture.
In the wintertime, it is known as a landing zone for migratory birds such as wild geese and swans, and in summer, visitors are able to admire lotus growing in colonies, which is supposedly the most beautiful and the largest in Japan, from a tour boat and take a closer look.
A lotus of which roots are in the mud and flower lies pristinely above the water represents purity in Buddhism.
The feeling was somewhat mysterious as if the time stopped there while it soothed my soul.
My dog is quite active usually but it seemed to gaze at beautiful flowers quietly.
Tour boat boarding area：Wakayanagi (Izunuma), close to the Sanctuary Center of Izunuma/Uchinuma in Miyagi Prefecture.
Access: Approximately 10 minutes by car from the Tsukidate IC on Tohoku Expressway or approximately 10 minutes by taxi from JR Kurikomakogen station (bullet train stops here).
