Beauty Power of 420,000 Sunflowers

Sunflower Hill (Himawari no Oka) in Sambongi, Miyagi Prefecture is filled with canola flowers in spring and sunflowers in summer.
The photo shows sunflowers in bloom on August 10.
On the gentle slope of 6 ha (15 acres), approximately 420,000 sunflowers are shining under the sunlight. The entire hill is covered with bright yellow, which is magnificent!
Ice cream, vegetable oil or baked items made of locally produced sunflowers are available for purchase and they are quite popular as souvenir.

・Annual Sunflower Festival in Sambongi starts from mid-August and the area is open till end of August.
