If you feel eating a piping hop pot dish, you should go to Tome City. On December 1, various hot pot dishes locally called “hatto” will be served in a park in the city. Besides regular hatto with fried “hu (dried wheat gluten)”, different flavors including pumpkin and azuki beans, sweet chocolate, spicy hot, curry, seafood, and beef tongue soup will be cooked for visitors, which you won’t taste otherwise. There will be a competition you can participate to pick the best hatto.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the event, neighboring towns such as Minami-sanrikucho and Osaki City, as well as Mogamimachi in Iwate Prefecture and Ichinoseki City in Iwate Prefecture will join this year with their own local dishes.
While tasting hot hatto, stage performance will entertain all visitors with families and friends. You’ll have a chance to win beef produced in Tome City and others if you finish three pots of hatto.
Date: December 1, 2013, from 10 am to 2 pm
Venue: Hazama Nakae Chuo Koen park (in front of Tome City Hall Hazama Branch)
