Since then, more than 100 species of salmon have been farmed. Salted salmon is representing salmon dishes in Murakami. It is made of salmon fished in autumn; rub a lot of salt in and keep for about one week, and then remove salt before semi-drying against the winter winds from the Japan Sea for a few weeks. You can see salted salmon swinging in front of old houses in winter in Murakami.
After strolling along the street lined with old houses built in the Edo period, viewing the sunset over the shore is recommended. Outdoor hot springs at nearby Senami Onsen spa resort offer ideal spots to admire the sundown.
