Following the advent of early summer, adorable cherries turn into ruby color in Yamagata Prefecture whose share is approximately 70% of total production in Japan.
This year’s harvest is expected to be slightly greater than that of last year – between 105% and 115% compared to normal.
Harvest of main brand “Satonishiki” now coloring and growing bountifully starts with branches protected from rain sometime next week and farmers are getting busier towards end of June to early July as harvest increases as usual.
