“Sendai Pageant of Starlight”, beautifully lights up the winter in Sendai, started from Friday, December 2, with the theme of “Light & Love in Perfect Harmony”.
As the warehouse of the lightbulbs was attacked by the March 11 tsunami, no bulb was available for this years event which would have forced the pageant being cancelled.
However, our sentiment that the city and the areas hit by the disaster needs the light of hope at the end of the year made the preparation started.
On 160 keyaki (Japanese zelkova) trees, 460 thousand bulbs are attached.
In addition to bulbs newly purchased by the organizer, many donated from all over the country light up the Jozenji-dori Street warmly this year again.
The light is on from 5:30 pm to 10 pm until December 31. (the light is on until 11 pm on the last day).
