On February 6th, I went to Iwate to experience “Iwate Snow Festival”, one of the five greatest snow festivals in Michinoku (Tohoku region).
Even on a weekday, I saw many visitors including families with kids who were enjoying sledding, maze of snow sculptures, snow train and horse sleigh.
For food lovers, barbecue lunch served in a Kamakura (snow shelter), yatai-mura where food stalls offering local specialties, and Koiwai-brand soft ice cream are just a few that entertain all adults and children there.
“Iwate Snow Festival” is on until Sunday, February 12 at the Koiwai Farm Makiba-en in Sizukuishi-cho, Iwate Prefecture. Why don’t you check out the festival this winter.
