The 37th Uesugi Snow Lantern Festival in Yonezawa, Feb. 8 & 9

Started by seven citizens as an event in winter, Uesugi Snow Lantern Festival is full of poetic sentiment & fantasy. It provides people with an opportunity to remember their ancestors and express their appreciation to their forerunners who set the groundwork for the present peace, while the beauty of snow in a hard frost enchant them. On the day of the festival, the soft light from snow lanterns and fantastic atmosphere envelope Yonezawa in winter.
